Here at the UK Hotels Register we try extremely hard to
ensure that
each hostel and hotel which we handle is fairly
represented and that you
actually receive the services offered. Each establishment is personally
visited at least once per year and inspected.
Unfortunately
the expressions clean and safe are comparative. What might be
clean as
a bedroom would not be clean as an operating theatre. Similarly
the
word safe is subjective.
We have done the very best
that we can to see that we do not handle any establishment where you
may be excessively at risk. For example, the area around Kings
Cross
Station does have some nice hotels that we will not handle. There
is
simply too much crime in that area for us to contemplate including them
in our pages.
Crime exists in all large cities
and there are certain
basic precautions you should take.
Never travel on an underground
train vary late at night
if you are alone.
Never carry large sums of money on
your person. Everywhere takes travelers cheques these days.
Credit cards are less vulnerable
than cash, but make
sure you have the numbers of all your credit cards listed somewhere
safe.
Don't
go out flaunting expensive jewelry or watches and be especially
careful with any portable computers. There are many Internet
cafes in
London.
